What Is the Draeger 2870298 Compatible Neonatal NIBP Air Hose?
The Draeger 2870298 compatible neonatal NIBP air hose is a reusable, aftermarket extension hose that connects a single-tube neonatal blood pressure cuff to the monitor’s non-invasive blood pressure port. Neonatal NIBP measurements run at much lower cuff volumes and pressures than adult measurements, so a leak-free, correctly sized hose is critical for accurate mmHg readings and for measurement cycles that complete quickly and don’t need to be repeated on fragile patients. It is a compatible replacement, not an original Draeger part, and it is built to the same fit, form, and function as the OEM 2870298 hose.
Compatible Monitor Models
This compatible hose is confirmed for use with the Draeger Infinity Delta, Infinity Gamma, Infinity Kappa, and Infinity Vista monitors, and with the SC 6000, SC 7000, SC 8000, and SC 9000. All of these share the Draeger single-tube NIBP port. The hose pairs only with single-tube neonatal cuffs that use a male luer slip connector. Adult and pediatric bayonet cuffs need the adult/pediatric hose instead, and the monitor should be set to neonatal mode before measuring.
Design and Construction
The hose runs 8.2 ft (2.5 m), a practical length for reaching from a bedside or incubator-mounted monitor to the infant without excess slack in the isolette. The monitor end has a Draeger mono plug built from copper and nylon for a secure, leak-free seat in the NIBP port. The cuff end has a luer slip connection that mates with the male luer slip fitting on disposable and reusable neonatal cuffs. The narrow PVC tubing, with an inner diameter of about 0.10 in (2.6 mm) and an outer diameter of about 0.23 in (5.8 mm), is sized for the small air volumes of neonatal cuffs and resists kinking. The hose is latex-free, non-sterile, weighs about 0.7 lbs, and ships one per bag.
When to Replace Your Draeger Neonatal NIBP Air Hose
Even a small air leak has an outsized effect in neonatal NIBP because cuff volumes are so small. Replace the hose when you see repeated inflation cycles, “cuff leak” or “measurement failed” alarms, readings that time out, or pressures that don’t match a reference check. Also replace it if you find cracked or stiffened tubing near either connector, a luer fitting that no longer seats snugly on the cuff, or a mono plug that sits loosely in the monitor port. A quick leak test with a known-good neonatal cuff and simulator will confirm whether the hose is the cause.
Cross Reference and Interchange Part Numbers
This compatible neonatal NIBP air hose, IPR Medical SKU BPH-NS25-18-06, cross-references to Draeger part number 2870298 and Unimed part number HSN-40-20. Materials managers and purchasing staff can use either number to confirm the match against existing inventory, work orders, or requisitions. For adult and pediatric patients, IPR Medical also stocks the compatible Draeger 1275275 single-tube bayonet hose. Contact IPR Medical if you are replacing a part number not listed here and need help confirming compatibility.
