Eitan Medical/ Q Core Sapphire Epidural
The Eitan Medical Sapphire Epidural pump is a dedicated epidural infusion pump built on the proven Sapphire platform. Purpose-built for epidural applications, it features yellow-colored tubing, a yellow faceplate, and on-screen yellow labeling — the internationally recognized color coding for epidural lines — to reduce the risk of misconnection at the point of care.
The Sapphire Epidural delivers three specialized modes: PCEA (patient-controlled epidural analgesia) with optional basal rate and loading dose, Intermittent Epidural with scheduled doses and optional basal rate, and PIEB (programmed intermittent epidural bolus), which combines intermittent scheduled doses with PCEA while giving priority to the intermittent dose to ensure delivery and prevent dose stacking. Flow rates are limited to safe epidural ranges, with a continuous rate of 0–25 mL/h and bolus rates at selectable levels. At 418 g without battery and running approximately 24 hours on a single charge, it is compact enough for labor and delivery, OR, and ambulatory pain management settings.

Flow rates are limited to safe epidural ranges to prevent accidental over-delivery, and all programming is protected to ensure only authorized changes can be made.
Three specialized epidural delivery modes
The Sapphire Epidural supports three clinically distinct modes of delivery:
- PCEA (Patient-Controlled Epidural Analgesia) — patient-controlled on-demand doses with optional basal rate and loading dose.
- Intermittent Epidural — scheduled doses with an optional basal rate.
- PIEB (Programmed Intermittent Epidural Bolus) — combines intermittent scheduled doses with PCEA, giving priority to the intermittent dose to ensure delivery and prevent dose stacking.
For a complete epidural infusion system, the Sapphire Epidural is compatible with dedicated Eitan Medical epidural administration sets, bolus handles, and lockboxes.
Patented Flow Control Technology on the Sapphire platform
Like all Sapphire pumps, the Epidural model is built on Eitan Medical’s patented magnetic Flow Control Technology, delivering ±2.5% flow rate accuracy per IEC 60601-2-24. Its IP24-rated housing withstands splash and dust per IEC 60601-1-11. The 3.2″ color QVGA touchscreen, approximately 24-hour battery life at 125 mL/h, and AC compatibility from 100–240 VAC make it dependable across hospital, ambulatory, and home care settings. The pump also supports up to 20 pre-set protocols, a custom drug library, automatic lockout, on-screen alarm troubleshooting, event logging, and hard limit configuration.
