What Is the YSI 427 Compatible Straight-Connector Pediatric/Neonate Skin Probe?

The IPR Medical TS-Y400S-PS30 is a compatible aftermarket (not OEM) pediatric/neonate skin surface temperature probe that replaces the YSI 427. Its probe disc measures 0.24 in (6.0 mm), the cable is 9.8 ft (3.0 m) long, and the connector is straight; temperature technology is 400 Series. It is meant for reuse rather than disposal.

Compatible Monitor Models

The GE Healthcare B40 and select Edan models, from the Elite V5 through the iM3, iM8, iM50, iM60, iM70, and iM80, make up the compatibility list for this probe. A monitor outside that group is not on the list, so check the model name on your unit against the Specifications tab before you order.

Design and Construction

Intended for pediatric/neonate patients, the TS-Y400S-PS30 has a 0.24 in (6.0 mm) disc for skin surface measurement, a straight connector, and a 9.8 ft (3.0 m) cable, and it uses 400 Series temperature technology. It is packed singly in a bag. Clean it between patients as facility protocol specifies, and inspect the disc and connector before reuse.

When to Replace Your Straight-Connector Pediatric/Neonate Skin Probe

Erratic skin temperatures, probe-off alarms while the probe is still attached, and readings that change when the cable is touched all suggest the probe needs replacing. Also check for a cracked disc, a frayed or cut cable, and a loose straight connector. If a known-good probe works normally on the same monitor, replace the original.
