What Is the M1191B / M1191A Compatible Adult Soft Tip SpO2 Sensor?

The IPR Medical SS-024-AS20 is a compatible aftermarket (not OEM) adult soft tip SpO2 sensor that replaces OEM parts M1191B and M1191A. Its cable measures 6.6 ft (2.0 m), and the Specifications table names the SpO2 sensor technology it is built to work with. Facilities that reorder under either OEM number can stock this reusable sensor in its place for the compatible models shown on that tab.

Compatible Monitor Models

Nearly all of the compatibility on record for this sensor is within the original equipment manufacturer’s product range, and those models are listed one by one in the Compatible Monitor Models table on the Specifications tab. The table names other brands as well, among them the Mindray / Datascope V12 and select Solaris models (NT2A and NT2C). Please look up your equipment there before ordering.

Design and Construction

The SS-024-AS20 is an adult-size sensor with a soft tip at the end of a 6.6 ft (2.0 m) cable. It is designed for use with the SpO2 technology identified in the Specifications table, and it is a reusable sensor supplied one per bag. Between uses, follow your facility’s protocol to clean the tip and cable, then look both over for damage.

When to Replace Your Adult Soft Tip SpO2 Sensor

Look for a split or misshapen soft tip, a cable jacket with cuts, cracks, or crush marks, and bent pins or a loose housing at the connector. On the monitor, saturation values that cut in and out and sensor alarms with no clear cause are typical signs that the sensor has worn out. A quick swap to a known-good sensor shows whether the sensor or the monitor is responsible.
