What Is the M1968A Compatible 5-Lead ECG Leadwire?

The IPR Medical EL-PH5-90G-A is a compatible aftermarket (not OEM) 5-lead ECG leadwire that replaces OEM part M1968A. Monitors from a wide range of manufacturers appear on the compatibility list for the EL-PH5-90G-A. Among them are select PaceTech models such as the Vitalmax 4000 and Minipack 3000 and select Welch Allyn models including the Propaq Encore 206EL. The list also covers select Spacelabs, Nihon Kohden, Biolight, Ivy Biomedical, Physio-Control, Bexen Cardio, Newtech, and Solaris models. Design and Construction

Each of the five leads terminates in a grabber/pinch electrode end, and together they cover limb and chest placement. Lead colors follow the AHA scheme: RA white, LA black, LL red, RL green, and V brown. The construction is shielded, the distal connector is molded, and the overall length is 3.0 ft (0.9 m). Since the leadwire is reusable, it can go back into service after cleaning per facility protocol and a visual inspection. Packaging is one leadwire per bag.

When to Replace Your 5-Lead ECG Leadwire

Retire a leadwire once its grabbers stop holding electrodes securely or its jacket is cracked, kinked, or hardened. Damage at the connector, including bent pins or a split housing, is another reason to take it out of service. On the monitor side, recurring lead-off messages, baseline noise, and artifact that comes and goes with patient movement often point to a failing leadwire; testing with a spare that is known to work can confirm it.
