What Is the GE Compatible Adult Skin Surface Temperature Probe?

This GE Healthcare compatible adult skin surface temperature probe is a reusable, aftermarket probe for GE Marquette and CARESCAPE patient monitors. It combines a 9.0 mm (0.35 in) skin-surface sensing disc and a 9.8 ft (3.0 m) cable with a GE-style monitor connector in a single direct-connect assembly, so no separate temperature adapter cable is needed. It is a compatible replacement, not an original GE part, and it is built to OEM fit, form, and function.

Compatible Monitor Models

This compatible probe is confirmed for use with GE CARESCAPE B450, B650, and B850 monitors and the GE B40, as well as Marquette Dash and Solar monitors, Eagle monitors, Tram and Tram 451 modules, the PDM module, and Cath-Lab and MAC-Lab hemodynamic systems. It also fits the Datex-Ohmeda E-PRESTN parameter module.

Design and Construction

The flat 9.0 mm (0.35 in) sensing disc sits against the skin to provide continuous surface temperature readings, commonly used for peripheral temperature monitoring in the OR, PACU, and ICU, and alongside a core probe to track the core-to-skin gradient. The 9.8 ft (3.0 m) cable reaches from the patient to a bedside, wall-, or pole-mounted monitor, and the GE-style connector plugs directly into the monitor’s temperature input. The probe is reusable after cleaning and disinfection according to facility protocol and ships one per bag. Secure the disc to the skin with a medical adhesive cover or tape per facility practice.

When to Replace Your GE Skin Temperature Probe

Replace the probe when the monitor shows “temp probe off,” “no probe,” or readings that are out of range or drift compared with a reference thermometer, when readings drop out as the cable is moved, or when the sensing disc is cracked or separated from the cable, the cable jacket is damaged, or the connector pins are bent or corroded. Checking the temperature channel with a simulator or a known-good probe quickly shows whether the probe or the monitor input is at fault.
