What Is the Nihon Kohden JP-920P Compatible IBP Adapter Cable?

The IPR Medical IBP-NKB-EW40 is a compatible aftermarket (not OEM) IBP adapter cable that replaces the Nihon Kohden JP-920P. Intended for use with Edwards transducers in invasive blood pressure (IBP) monitoring, this reusable cable is 13.1 ft (4.0 m) long.

Compatible Monitor Models

Select Nihon Kohden BSM models appear on the compatibility list for the IBP-NKB-EW40, with the BSM-2303, BSM-4100 Series, BSM-6501K, and BSM-9100 among them. The list also covers select Life Scope, PVM, and TEC models; the Life Scope J, Life Scope TR, and TEC 8322 are examples. For certain BSM models, a YJ or AY number is part of the listed entry, and the table preserves those entries in full. Design and Construction

The IBP-NKB-EW40 connects Edwards transducers to the compatible Nihon Kohden monitors in the table. The cable measures 13.1 ft (4.0 m) and ships one per bag. Clean it between patients as your facility protocol directs; it is reusable and can go back into use once it passes inspection.

When to Replace Your IBP Adapter Cable

Take the cable out of service if the outer jacket is split, crushed, or kinked, if the transducer connection feels loose or will not stay seated, or if the monitor connector has bent pins or a cracked shell. Dampened or intermittent pressure waveforms, zeroing errors, and pressure values that jump when the cable is handled are other common indicators of wear. Swapping in a known-good adapter cable with the same Edwards transducer and monitor is a quick way for biomedical staff to confirm the cause.
