Smiths Medical Medfusion 2010 Syringe Pump – Recertified
The Medfusion 2010 is an ambulatory syringe pump designed for precise, low-volume drug and fluid injection in the hospital setting. Building on the foundation of the Medfusion 2001, the 2010 adds body-weight-based dosing capability — making it well suited for critical care, anesthesia, and any clinical application where medication must be dosed relative to patient weight. It supports four infusion mode categories: Body Weight (mcg/kg/min, mcg/kg/hr, mg/kg/min, mg/kg/hr), Mass (mg/hr), Continuous (mL/hr), and Volume Over Time — with bolus delivery available across Body Weight, Mass, and Continuous modes.
Running on AC power or internal rechargeable batteries, the 2010 accepts syringes from B-D, Monoject, and Terumo in sizes from 1 mL to 60 mL with automatic syringe size detection. It delivers flow rates from 0.01 to 378.0 mL/hr at ±3% accuracy, features four-position variable occlusion settings, and supports a custom program mode with lockout for facility-specific configuration. The pump mounts to a treatment cage, IV pole, or benchtop and operates in nearly any position.
The Medfusion 2010 is a discontinued product that remains in active use across hospitals and clinical settings. Whether you need a patient-ready unit, replacement parts, or a repair on a pump already in your fleet, IPR Medical is here to help. We buy, sell, repair, and stock parts for the Medfusion 2010 — contact us to discuss your needs.

Body-weight dosing in a compact, portable platform
The Medfusion 2010 takes the proven 2001 platform and adds body-weight-based dosing — a meaningful clinical step for critical care, anesthesia, and any setting where drug delivery must be calibrated to patient weight. Body Weight mode accepts concentration entries and patient weight, then automatically calculates the required delivery rate. Rates can be programmed in mcg/kg/min, mcg/kg/hr, mg/kg/min, and mg/kg/hr, covering the most common weight-based dosing units in clinical practice. Mass mode adds mg/hr, while Continuous and Volume Over Time modes round out a flexible four-mode system suitable for a wide range of hospital applications.
Bolus delivery and variable occlusion
Bolus delivery is available across Body Weight, Mass, and Continuous modes and can be programmed, changed, or administered at any time prior to or during drug delivery. The pump delivers bolus doses at the fastest rate possible for the syringe size in use. Occlusion sensitivity is adjustable at four positions — Low, Intermediate, Normal, and High — allowing the setting to be matched to the clinical application, syringe size, and line configuration. The pump automatically senses syringe size for all supported models except the B-D 1 cc Luer-lock, which requires manual selection.
Custom program mode and standby
The custom program mode allows authorized clinicians or biomedical engineers to preselect infusion modes, alarm settings, alarm volume, alarm delay time, and syringe manufacturer options — then lock them out with an access code to limit programming access at the bedside. A standby mode allows temporary suspension of an infusion while retaining all programmed data including rate, total delivered, syringe size, and syringe manufacturer, so therapy can be resumed without reprogramming.
2010 vs. 2010i — knowing the difference
The Medfusion 2010 and 2010i share the same physical form factor and core delivery platform. The key difference is measurement unit coverage: the 2010i expands the Mass and Body Weight mode unit options to include additional conversions such as mcg/min, mcg/hr, mg/min, mg/hr, mU/min, mU/hr, units/min, units/hr, and mcg/kg/min and mcg/kg/hr alongside ml/min and ml/hr in Continuous mode. The standard 2010 covers the most common weight-based and mass dosing units for the majority of clinical applications. If your facility requires the expanded unit set, view the Medfusion 2010i here.
