Design and Construction

The sensor uses a hard shell finger clip with a spring hinge that holds the emitter and detector in consistent alignment across the fingertip, making it well suited for spot checks, triage, and short-term continuous monitoring. It is sized for adult patients weighing more than 66 lbs (30 kg). The 3.3 ft (1.0 m) cable terminates in a 20-pin Masimo Red connector that mates directly with the device. The sensor is reusable and supplied one per bag.

When to Replace Your 2053 Red DCI-dc3 SpO2 Sensor

Direct-connect sensors used in EMS and emergency settings take heavy handling, and wear shows up at the clip hinge, the finger pads, the cable, and the 20-pin connector. Replace the sensor when the clip no longer closes firmly, the finger pads are torn or hardened, the emitter or detector windows are scratched or discolored, the connector is cracked or has bent pins, or the cable shows cuts or kinks. Persistent “sensor off” alarms or readings that drop out when the cable is moved also point to a failing sensor. Keeping a spare on each truck or crash cart minimizes downtime when a sensor fails in the field.
