What Is the M1190A Compatible Adult Soft Tip SpO2 Sensor?

The IPR Medical SS-023-AS30 is a compatible aftermarket (not OEM) adult soft tip SpO2 sensor that replaces OEM part M1190A. Nellcor OxiSmart is the SpO2 technology it is made to work with, and its cable runs 9.8 ft (3.0 m). Since the sensor is reusable, one unit can serve a series of adult patients as long as it is cleaned and checked between uses.

Design and Construction

For adult patients, the SS-023-AS30 offers a soft tip on a 9.8 ft (3.0 m) cable, designed for use with Nellcor OxiSmart technology. Each bag holds a single sensor. Follow your facility’s protocol to clean the soft tip and cable between patients, and examine both before each reuse.

When to Replace Your Adult Soft Tip SpO2 Sensor

A soft tip that is torn, stretched out, or no longer holds its shape is a clear reason to retire the sensor, as are a cracked or kinked cable jacket and bent pins at the connector. Saturation readings that wander or drop out, a displayed pulse rate that disagrees with a manual count, and sensor-off alerts that come and go also suggest wear. If a known-good sensor clears the problem on the same monitor, the original sensor is the part to replace.
