Design and Construction

The soft tip design wraps the fingertip without the spring pressure of a hard shell clip. That improves comfort during extended monitoring, reduces pressure points on fragile skin, and helps the sensor stay in place on restless or agitated patients. It is sized for adult patients weighing more than 66 lbs (30 kg). The 3.3 ft (1.0 m) cable terminates in a 20-pin Masimo Red connector that mates directly with the device. When to Replace Your 2643 Red DBI-dc3 SpO2 Sensor

Reusable soft tip sensors wear with repeated cleaning and handling. Replace the sensor when the soft tip material is torn, stretched, or hardened and no longer holds the finger securely, the emitter or detector windows are scratched or discolored, the 20-pin connector is cracked or has bent pins, or the cable shows cuts or kinks. Persistent “sensor off” alarms or readings that drop out when the cable is moved also point to a failing sensor. If a sensor fails to read on a monitor that passes self-test, try a known-good sensor to isolate the fault quickly.
