Practivet Syringe Pump

$895.00 Original price was: $895.00.$695.00Current price is: $695.00.

The Practivet Syringe Pump is a purpose-built veterinary syringe pump designed for the real-world demands of small animal practice — compact enough to stack six units on a single pole, simple enough that your team can learn it in minutes, and accurate enough at ±2% to handle critical infusions with confidence. It auto-recognizes syringe brand and size the moment you load it, pulling from a built-in library of Monoject, BD, Terumo, and Nipro syringes from 5 to 60 mL, and adjusts its infusion rate range accordingly. The drug library is fully customizable and updatable, and five infusion modes — Rate, Time, Body Weight, Intermittent, and Total IV Anesthesia — cover everything from routine fluid support to complex anesthetic protocols.

What sets the Practivet apart in a busy clinic is the practical stuff: an IPX3 waterproof rating that handles the splash reality of a treatment area, a rechargeable Li-Polymer battery that runs up to 10 hours, an indicator light system that lets you read pump status at a glance from across the room, and stackable hardware that keeps a patient’s full infusion setup organized on one pole without a tangle of equipment. It has the same intuitive interface as the Practivet IV pump, so facilities running both don’t have to train staff on two different systems.

Overview

The Practivet Syringe Pump (PV1000S) is a veterinary-specific syringe pump built for the pace and physical reality of small animal clinical practice. It runs the same intuitive interface as the Practivet IV pump, which matters practically — facilities running both don’t need to train staff on two different systems, and the visual and operational logic carries over directly. At under 4 lbs with a built-in carrying handle, stackable hardware for up to six units, and an IPX3 splash-resistant rating, the Practivet is designed for the treatment area as it actually exists, not as it theoretically should be.

Syringe Recognition and Flow Rate Performance

The Practivet Syringe Pump auto-recognizes syringe brand and size the moment the plunger arm is seated and locked. It carries a built-in library for Monoject, BD, Terumo, and Nipro syringes from 5 to 60 mL, and displays the recognized brand and size in the top left corner of the screen as confirmation. Flow rate range scales automatically with syringe size: a 5 mL syringe runs 0.1 to 150 ml/h, a 20 mL syringe covers 0.1 to 600 ml/h, and a 50 or 60 mL syringe reaches 0.1 to 1500 ml/h. Accuracy holds at ±2% across the operating range, and the VTBI range of 0.1 to 9,999.9 mL accommodates everything from micro-dosing to extended infusion protocols. Additional syringe brands can be calibrated in-clinic without sending the pump out for service — a straightforward process that Practivet documents in a separate calibration guide.

Infusion Modes

The Practivet Syringe Pump offers five infusion modes that cover the full range of small animal clinical scenarios. Rate Mode runs a continuous infusion at a set ml/h rate. Time Mode calculates the required flow rate based on a desired volume and duration — useful when the goal is delivery completion at a specific time rather than a specific rate. Body Weight Mode incorporates patient weight and drug concentration into the rate calculation, reducing manual math and the errors that come with it. Intermittent Mode delivers a programmed volume at the set rate, pauses for a defined interval at the KVO rate, and then restarts automatically — well suited to repeated drug dosing protocols. Total IV Anesthesia Mode is purpose-built for anesthetic infusion management. The full Drug Library is customizable by the facility and can be updated as formularies change, with drugs added or removed directly through the pump’s settings menu.

Bolus, KVO, and Safety Features

Bolus delivery is supported in both manual and automatic modes. In manual bolus mode, holding the BOLUS key during an active infusion runs the pump at the pre-set bolus rate; releasing the key immediately returns to the maintenance rate. In automatic bolus mode, pressing and releasing the BOLUS key delivers the full programmed bolus volume and then reverts to the maintenance rate without further input. KVO rate is user-adjustable from 0.1 to 2 ml/h, keeping venous access patent between infusions or after VTBI completion. Occlusion pressure is selectable at three thresholds — Low (40–80 kPa), Medium (80–120 kPa, system default), and High (120–160 kPa) — letting clinicians tune sensitivity to the viscosity and line characteristics of a given infusion. A real-time pressure indicator on the display shows a rising green bar as line pressure increases, giving visual warning before the alarm threshold is reached.

Alarm System and Indicator Light

The Practivet Syringe Pump uses a color-coded front indicator light that communicates pump status at a glance from across a busy treatment area — flashing green during normal operation, solid yellow for low priority alerts, flashing yellow for medium priority alarms, and flashing red for high priority alarms. This is particularly useful in multi-patient environments where staff can’t be standing in front of each pump at all times. Audible alarms cover occlusion, low battery, battery exhaustion, syringe installation issues, near-empty warnings, and VTBI completion. Night mode dims the screen and disables the indicator light during infusion to reduce disruption in overnight ward settings, while visual and audible alarms remain fully active. A keypad lock prevents accidental parameter changes during active infusions, with a configurable idle timeout before locking engages.

Stacking, Mounting, and Portability

The Practivet Syringe Pump is stackable up to six units using interlocking grooves on the top and back of the unit body. Stacking is straightforward — line up the grooves, slide the upper unit forward until it clicks, and it’s secure. A quick-release lever on the back right corner separates units cleanly. This stackability is one of the Practivet’s most practical advantages in multi-drug infusion setups, keeping a patient’s full “tree of life” on a single pole without brackets, adapters, or separate mounting hardware. The removable pole clamp mounts in both vertical and horizontal orientations using a flathead screwdriver, and can be removed entirely for bench or surface use. The built-in carrying handle on the top of the unit makes transport between treatment areas straightforward.

Battery, Connectivity, and Software

The pump runs on a rechargeable 7.4V, 1900 mAh Li-Polymer battery with up to 10 hours of runtime and a recharge time of approximately 3 hours when the pump is powered off. The pump can also run directly from AC power while charging. Wi-Fi capability is built in — contact IPR Medical or Practivet for configuration details specific to your facility network. Wired connectivity includes RS-232 and USB expansion ports. Infusion history is stored in an on-board log accessible through the settings menu. Software is field-updatable, and the pump carries a configurable maintenance reminder to prompt periodic accuracy checks — Practivet recommends verifying infusion accuracy every two months. The 1-year limited warranty extends to 2 years when Practivet extension sets are used with the pump.
