What Is the M1196A / M1196AL Compatible Adult Finger Clip SpO2 Sensor?

The IPR Medical SS-024-AF30 is a compatible aftermarket (not OEM) adult finger clip SpO2 sensor that replaces OEM parts M1196A and M1196AL. A hard shell clip sits at the end of a 9.8 ft (3.0 m) cable, and the SpO2 technology the sensor is intended for appears in the Specifications table. With cleaning and a check between patients, this reusable sensor can be returned to service again and again.

Compatible Monitor Models

Use the Compatible Monitor Models table on the Specifications tab to confirm your monitor; it lists the original equipment manufacturer’s models individually, by name or product number. You will also see the Mindray / Datascope V12 there, along with select Solaris models (NT2A and NT2C). If your model is not in the table, contact us before ordering.

Design and Construction

The SS-024-AF30 is sized for adult patients, with a hard shell finger clip and a cable that measures 9.8 ft (3.0 m), and it comes bagged on its own. Wipe down the clip and cable between patients per facility protocol, and make sure the clip closes fully and the cable is free of damage before each use.

When to Replace Your Adult Finger Clip SpO2 Sensor

Begin with the clip itself: cracks in the hard shell, or a clip that no longer closes firmly on the finger, mean the sensor should be replaced. Move on to the cable and connector, where a split or crushed jacket or bent pins are equally clear signs. At the monitor, saturation values that jump or vanish and a pulse value out of step with the patient point the same way; if a second sensor that is known to work reads normally on that monitor, retire the first one.
