What Is the GE 2021197-001 Compatible IBP Adapter Cable?

The GE Healthcare 2021197-001 compatible IBP adapter cable is a reusable, aftermarket interface cable that connects an Edwards disposable pressure transducer to a GE invasive blood pressure (IBP) input. During arterial, central venous, or pulmonary artery pressure monitoring, the transducer converts fluid-line pressure into an electrical signal. This cable carries that signal to the monitor, which displays waveforms and systolic, diastolic, and mean values in mmHg. Because the transducer is disposable and the adapter cable is reusable, facilities replace only the transducer between patients. It is a compatible replacement, not an original GE part, and it is built to the same fit, form, and function as the OEM 2021197-001 cable.

Design and Construction

The cable runs 13 ft (4.0 m), giving enough reach from a bedside or boom-mounted monitor to a transducer on an IV pole or patient-side mount in ICU, OR, and cath lab settings. The monitor end has a flat, dual-keyed 11-pin GE connector that seats in the IBP port in only one orientation. The transducer end has an Edwards-style connector that mates with Edwards disposable pressure transducers. The gray jacket is about 0.16 in (4 mm) in diameter and stays flexible through routine cleaning. The cable is latex-free, non-sterile, weighs about 0.6 lbs, and ships one per bag.

When to Replace Your GE IBP Adapter Cable

IBP adapter cables are exposed to saline, blood, and cleaning agents, and they flex constantly at both connectors. Replace the cable when the monitor won’t zero or reports a transducer or cable fault with a known-good transducer, when the waveform drifts, dampens, or drops out as the cable is moved, or when readings don’t match a reference check. Also replace it if you find corrosion or fluid residue in the Edwards connector, bent or recessed pins on the 11-pin connector, a loose connector latch, or a cracked jacket. Testing with a pressure simulator and a second cable quickly isolates the fault.
