What Is the Draeger 5956458 Compatible 5-Lead ECG Leadwire?

The IPR Medical EL-SM5-90S-A is a compatible aftermarket (not OEM) 5-lead ECG leadwire that replaces the Draeger 5956458 and the Siemens MS16229. Its five leads are arranged for limb and chest placement and end in snap electrode connections. Reusable and 3.0 ft (0.9 m) long, the leadwire is intended for ECG monitoring.

Compatible Monitor Models

Listed monitors span eight brands. Among them are select Draeger models such as the Infinity Delta XL, Infinity Gamma, and SC 9000; select Kontron models such as the 7135B, K2000, and Vitalmon; and select Fukuda Denshi Dynascope models. Design and Construction

Five shielded leads, color coded to the AHA standard (RA white, LA black, LL red, RL green, V brown), end in snaps on the electrode side and meet at a molded distal connector. The lead type is Siemens Dual-Pin, and the overall length is 3.0 ft (0.9 m). This reusable leadwire is supplied one per bag and should be cleaned between patients per facility protocol.

When to Replace Your 5-Lead ECG Leadwire

Over time the snap sockets can widen and stop gripping, which is often the first problem staff notice. Inspect all five leads for cracked or discolored jacketing, check the molded connector for a broken housing or bent contacts, and note whether lead-off alarms keep pointing to the same lead. Fitting a known-good leadwire to the same monitor tells you quickly whether the leadwire is at fault.
