What Is the Datascope-Compatible 3-Lead One-Piece ECG Cable?

This 3-lead one-piece ECG cable (SKU EC-3017RG-A) is a reusable, aftermarket replacement (not OEM) for Datascope patient monitors (a line acquired by Mindray). The trunk cable and three AHA-coded limb leads (RA white, LA black, LL red) are built as a single assembly, so there is no separate leadwire set to connect. The trunk is 8.2 ft (2.5 m) and the leads are 3 ft (0.9 m), for a total reach of about 11.2 ft (3.4 m).

Compatible Monitor Models

This cable is compatible with the Datascope Passport, Passport 2, Passport 2LT, Passport 5L, Passport EL, and Passport XG, including Passport units with the Datascope or Nellcor option. It is also compatible with Datascope 2000, 2001, 2002, 2100, 2200, 3000, 3000A, and CS100 monitors and the System 90, 90T, 96, 97, 97e, 98, and 98XT. The full list is in the Specifications tab.

Design and Construction

The cable is defibrillation-proof with built-in resistors, and each lead ends in a pinch-style grabber that clips onto the electrode. The one-piece design leaves no trunk-to-leadwire junction to loosen or contaminate. It is reusable and ships one per bag.

When to Replace Your One-Piece ECG Cable

Replace the cable when ECG traces show noise, baseline wander, or intermittent lead-off alarms that appear or clear when the cable is flexed, since these usually point to a broken conductor inside the trunk or a lead. Because the trunk and leads are a single assembly, damage anywhere along the cable, such as a split jacket, a damaged monitor-end connector, grabber springs that no longer close firmly, or faded color bands, means the whole cable should be retired. Swapping in a known-good cable is a quick way for biomedical staff to separate a cable fault from a monitor ECG input fault.
