What Is the Datascope 040-000057-00 Compatible Temperature Probe?

The TS-MRB-AS30 is a compatible aftermarket replacement for the Datascope / Mindray 040-000057-00 adult skin surface temperature probe. It is not an OEM part. The probe is reusable and single-channel. It provides continuous, non-invasive skin temperature monitoring in adult patients and is commonly used in the OR, PACU, and critical care. It connects directly to the monitor’s temperature input, so no intermediate adapter cable is needed. Its electrical characteristics match the OEM probe, so readings stay consistent with what clinicians expect from the original part.

Compatible Monitor Models

This probe is compatible with the Datascope / Mindray Passport V, V-Series, V12, and V21 patient monitors. These monitors use a 5-pin, D-shaped keyed temperature connector. The probe also works with the Contec MS400 patient simulator, so biomedical technicians can use it for bench testing and preventive maintenance checks. It is not intended for the newer Mindray BeneView, iPM, iMEC, or ePM platforms, which use a different connector. It is also not intended for older Datascope monitors that take 400-series mono-plug probes.

Design and Construction

The probe ends in a flat 0.35 in (9.0 mm) sensing disc. The disc sits flush against the skin and is typically held in place with an adhesive skin probe cover. The 10 ft (3.0 m) cable is long enough to reach a bedside or transport-mounted monitor without straining the connector. The sensing element is an NTC thermistor with a nominal resistance of 2.252 kΩ at 77 °F (25 °C). It reads accurately across a clinical range of 77 °F to 113 °F (25 °C to 45 °C). The keyed 5-pin connector seats in only one orientation, which prevents misconnection. Each probe ships non-sterile in an individual bag and is designed to be cleaned and disinfected between patients according to facility protocol.

When to Replace Your Temperature Probe

Reusable skin temperature probes wear out from repeated cleaning, adhesive removal, flexing, and connector cycling. Replace the probe if you see any of the following: a cracked, discolored, or stiff cable jacket; a damaged or lifting sensing disc; a torn strain relief; or bent or corroded connector pins. Readings that drift, fluctuate, or disagree with a reference thermometer are another sign. So are intermittent “probe off” or “temp error” alarms that clear when the cable is moved. Remove a probe from service right away if it fails a patient-simulator check during preventive maintenance. Keeping a spare on hand prevents gaps in temperature monitoring while a replacement is ordered.
