What Is the Datascope 040-000055-00 Compatible Temperature Probe?

The TS-MRB-AG30 is a compatible aftermarket replacement for the Datascope / Mindray 040-000055-00 adult general-purpose temperature probe. It is not an OEM part. It is a reusable, single-channel probe for continuous oral or rectal core temperature monitoring in adult patients. It connects directly to the monitor’s temperature input, and no intermediate adapter cable is required. It reproduces the OEM probe’s electrical characteristics, so readings match what clinicians expect from the original part.

Compatible Monitor Models

This probe is compatible with the Datascope / Mindray Passport V, V-Series, V12, and V21 patient monitors. These platforms use a 5-pin, D-shaped keyed temperature connector. The probe also works with the Contec MS400 patient simulator, so biomedical technicians can use it for bench testing and preventive maintenance checks. It is not intended for the newer Mindray BeneView, iPM, iMEC, or ePM platforms, which use a different connector. It is also not intended for older Datascope monitors that take 400-series mono-plug probes.

Design and Construction

The probe has a 0.16 in (4.0 mm) general-purpose tip on a 10 ft (3.0 m) cable. The cable is long enough to reach from a bedside or transport-mounted monitor to the patient without straining the connector. The sensing element is an NTC thermistor with a nominal resistance of 2.252 kΩ at 77 °F (25 °C). It reads accurately across a clinical range of 77 °F to 113 °F (25 °C to 45 °C). The keyed 5-pin connector seats in only one orientation, which prevents misconnection. Each probe ships non-sterile in an individual bag and is designed to be cleaned and disinfected between patients according to facility protocol.

When to Replace Your Temperature Probe

Reusable temperature probes wear out through repeated cleaning, flexing, and connector cycling. Replace the probe if you see cracking, discoloration, or stiffness in the cable jacket. Also replace it if the tip or strain relief is damaged, or if pins on the monitor connector are bent or corroded. Readings that drift, fluctuate, or disagree with a reference thermometer are another sign. So are intermittent “probe off” or “temp error” alarms that clear when the cable is moved. A probe that fails a check against a patient simulator during preventive maintenance should be taken out of service right away. Keeping a spare on hand prevents gaps in temperature monitoring while a replacement is ordered.

The TS-MRB-AG30 cross-references to Datascope / Mindray OEM part number 040-000055-00 and to Unimed part number TDT-AG.
