The Baxter AS50 Auto Syringe Pump is a proven, versatile syringe pump designed to meet the fluid and drug delivery requirements of critical care, anesthesia, and general clinical environments. It delivers accurate continuous or intermittent infusion of IV solutions, drug solutions, whole blood, and packed red blood cells — via intravenous, intra-arterial, epidural, or subcutaneous routes — with flow rates programmable from 0.01 to 438 mL/hr and ±3% accuracy across syringes from 1 mL to 60 mL.

Yes, the AS50 is an older pump — Baxter has officially ended service on this model. But its reliability, straightforward numeric keypad programming, automatic syringe size recognition, configurable drug library, pre-programmable bolus, and water-resistant construction with removable protective bumpers have kept it in active clinical use long after its discontinuation.

At IPR Medical, we stock the parts to keep your AS50 looking and running like new. Whether you need a replacement battery pack, rubber boots, a pole clamp, or internal components, we have what it takes to extend the life of your pump and keep it patient-ready. If you’ve been running these units for years and want to keep them going — or you’re looking to add reliable, cost-effective pumps to your fleet — you’re in the right place.

A workhorse pump that stood the test of time

The Baxter AS50 was designed to meet the fluid and drug delivery requirements of a changing clinical environment — and it delivered on that promise for decades. Precise, portable, and straightforward to program, the AS50 earned its place in critical care units, ORs, and anesthesia carts across the country. Baxter has officially ended service on this product, but the pumps themselves keep going, and so does the demand for them.

At IPR Medical, we fully refurbish each AS50 before it ships — inspected, cleaned, tested, and patient-ready. And because we stock the parts, units that come through our shop don’t just work well; they look the part too.

Clinical versatility across routes and fluids

The AS50 is indicated for IV, intra-arterial, epidural, and subcutaneous infusion of IV solutions, drug solutions, whole blood, and packed red blood cells. It can be piggybacked into an ongoing infusion line to deliver secondary solutions automatically and economically. Flow rates run from 0.01 mL/hr all the way to 438 mL/hr depending on syringe size, covering the full range from ultra-low critical care dosing to higher-volume delivery. Compatible syringes from B-D, Monoject, and Terumo are supported in sizes from 1 mL to 60 mL, with automatic syringe size recognition built in.

Intuitive programming with real safety features

The AS50 uses a self-prompting multi-field LCD that walks the user through syringe selection and infusion programming step by step. The elastomeric keypad with tactile feedback gives audible click confirmation on every keypress — no silent missed inputs. Pre-programmable bolus delivery, dose titration without interrupting flow, a configurable Protocol Library with drug-specific parameters, and a nine-LED status array make this pump a capable clinical tool despite its age. The optional RS-232 serial port allows remote computer monitoring and control for facilities that need it.

IPR Medical keeps your AS50 fleet running

The AS50 is a discontinued product — Baxter ended service on it years ago. But the pumps are mechanically sound, and with the right parts and service, they continue to perform reliably in clinical settings. IPR Medical maintains stock of AS50 replacement parts including battery packs, protective rubber boots, pole clamps, and internal components. Whether you’re looking to extend the life of pumps already in your fleet or want units that arrive looking and running like new, we have what you need.
