Design and Construction

The hard-shell finger clip holds the emitter and detector in consistent alignment on adult fingers, making it well suited for spot checks, OR and PACU use, and short-term continuous monitoring. The short 3.3 ft (1.0 m) cable keeps weight off the finger and connects to the oximeter directly or through a compatible extension cable, so a worn sensor can be replaced without replacing the extension. The sensor is reusable after cleaning and disinfection according to facility protocol and ships one per bag.

Replace the sensor when the oximeter reports “sensor off,” “no probe,” or probe fault messages that persist with a known-good extension cable, when readings are erratic or the pleth waveform is weak on a well-perfused patient, or when the clip spring has weakened, the housing is cracked, the pad is torn, or the cable jacket is damaged near the clip or connector. Swapping in a known-good sensor quickly identifies whether the sensor or the cable is at fault.
