What Is the Masimo Compatible LNC Ext-4 SpO2 Extension Cable?

The IPR Medical SA-005RB-12LS is a compatible aftermarket replacement for the Masimo LNC Ext-4 (LNC-4-EXT, 2021) SpO2 extension cable. It is not an OEM product. This 4 ft (1.2 m) reusable cable has a 9-pin D-sub (DB9) connector at each end. It extends Masimo LNCS pulse oximetry sensors to monitors, defibrillators, and infant care systems with a DB9-style Masimo SET SpO2 port. It is designed to match the original LNC Ext-4 cable in fit, form, and function.

Compatible Monitor Models

This cable is compatible with a wide range of Mindray/Datascope monitors that have Masimo SET SpO2: Accutorr V, Accutorr 3, Accutorr 7, Accutorr Plus, DPM4, DPM6, DPM7, EPM4, MEC 12, MPM, Passport 2, Passport 2LT, Passport XG, PM 6800, Spectrum, Trio, T8, V12, V21, and VS 800. It also supports the Zoll E Series, M Series, and R Series defibrillators and the GE Datex-Ohmeda S/5 and Giraffe Infant Warmer. Other supported devices include the GE Critikon Dinamap Pro 1000, the Philips Invivo Escort II, the Comen K12 Pro, and Bitmos SAT 800, 801, 805, 816, and satPuls. Before ordering, confirm that your device has a DB9-style Masimo SET SpO2 port and uses LNCS sensors.

Design and Construction

The cable has a triple-keyed 9-pin D-sub connector on each end, joined by a flexible, shielded 4 ft (1.2 m) cable. One end plugs into the monitor’s Masimo SET SpO2 port and the other accepts the DB9 connector of a Masimo LNCS sensor. This lets a short reusable or single-patient-use sensor reach the patient without strain on the sensor cable or the monitor port. The cable is built for Masimo LNCS sensors and will not accept LNOP, M-LNCS, or RD SET sensors. It is reusable and supplied one per bag.

When to Replace Your LNC Ext-4 Extension Cable

Replace the extension cable if you see intermittent or dropped SpO2 readings, or “sensor off” or “no sensor” alarms with a known-good LNCS sensor attached. Other signs include bent or recessed pins on either DB9 connector, cracked connector shells or broken keying, and a cut, crushed, or kinked jacket. Extension cables take repeated flexing and connector cycling at the bedside, so they often fail before the monitor or sensor does. Biomedical technicians can confirm a fault by connecting a known-good sensor directly to the monitor. If readings return to normal, the extension cable should be retired. Keeping a spare on hand helps prevent downtime on transport monitors, crash carts, and infant warmers.
