What Is the Nihon Kohden BR-913PA Compatible 3-Lead ECG Leadwire?

The IPR Medical EL-NKB3-90S-A is a compatible aftermarket (not OEM) 3-lead ECG leadwire that replaces the Nihon Kohden BR-913PA. This reusable limb-lead leadwire attaches to electrodes with snap ends, uses AHA color coding, and has a 3.0 ft (0.9 m) length. The lead type is listed as Nihon Kohden BR-9XXP, and the leadwire is intended for ECG monitoring.

Compatible Monitor Models

The EL-NKB3-90S-A is listed for select Nihon Kohden BSM models, among them the BSM-2303, BSM-3000 Series, BSM-6501, and BSM-8800, and for select Life Scope, PVM, TEC, ZM, and ZS models such as the Life Scope 6700 Series and Vismo PVM 2703. Select Skanray / Larsen & Toubro models, including the Galaxy, Planet 55, Star 50, and Star 55, appear on the list as well. Design and Construction

Three limb leads terminate in snap electrode ends and are color coded to the AHA standard (RA white, LA black, LL red). The leadwire is shielded and has a molded distal connector and a 3.0 ft (0.9 m) length. As a reusable leadwire, it can be cleaned between patients per facility protocol and returned to service after inspection. Each one is packaged in its own bag.

When to Replace Your 3-Lead ECG Leadwire

Swap out the leadwire if a snap no longer clicks securely onto the electrode stud, if the insulation is cracked, stiff, or kinked, or if the connector has bent pins or a broken housing. Repeated lead-off alarms, a noisy or unstable ECG baseline, and artifact that appears when a lead is touched or moved are other signs that the leadwire is wearing out. A side-by-side check with a known-good leadwire on the same monitor helps biomedical staff narrow down the cause.
