What Is the Nihon Kohden 45502-NK Compatible 10-Lead EKG Cable?

The IPR Medical EKC10-NKA-B-A is a compatible aftermarket (not OEM) 10-lead diagnostic one-piece EKG cable that replaces the Nihon Kohden 45502-NK. Intended for diagnostic (EKG) use, this reusable cable has 4 mm banana electrode ends, AHA color coding, and a respiratory rate feature.

Compatible Monitor Models

Compatibility listings for the EKC10-NKA-B-A include select Nihon Kohden models such as the ECG 8330, ECG 8830, 6353A, 5504A, and Cardiofax, along with the BSM-6501A and Escape 12. Design and Construction

The EKC10-NKA-B-A is a one-piece design with ten leads for limb and chest placement, and each lead ends in a 4 mm banana connection. The leads follow AHA color coding, and the cable length is specified as 7.2 ft (2.2 m) plus mixed 2.6 ft (0.8 m) and 3.9 ft (1.2 m) lengths. Cleaning between patients follows facility protocol, and since the cable is reusable, it can keep supporting recordings until inspection shows it should be retired. It is packaged one per bag.

When to Replace Your 10-Lead EKG Cable

Replace the cable if a banana connector is bent, loose, or no longer seats firmly in its electrode connection, if the jacket on the main cable or any lead is cracked, cut, or kinked, or if the device connector has bent pins or a damaged housing. Noisy or wandering traces on individual leads, lead-off messages during a recording, and artifact that changes as the cable is moved are other signs of a worn cable. Running a test recording with a known-good cable on the same equipment helps biomedical staff confirm the fault.
