The Philips IntelliVue M3001A (Option A03C12) is the 12-lead ECG configuration of the IntelliVue Multi-Measurement Module for facilities standardized on Masimo LNCS sensors. Building on the A03 standard package — ECG, arrhythmia, ST, respiration, Masimo SET SpO2, and oscillometric NBP — the C12 option adds conventional 12-lead ECG capture and EASI-derived 12-lead ECG using only 5 electrodes. The A03C12 is the Masimo SET equivalent of the A01C12 and A02C12: clinically identical in 12-lead ECG capability and overall parameter set, with the SpO2 interface built around a dedicated Masimo SET circuit, and Masimo LNCS sensors connecting via the Masimo LNC MP-10 dual-key patient cable (part 2281). It is the correct choice for facilities that require documented, diagnostic-quality 12-lead ECG recordings alongside continuous monitoring and are standardized on Masimo LNCS sensors, but do not need invasive pressure or temperature within the MMS module itself.

Overview

The Philips IntelliVue M3001A (Option A03C12) is the 12-lead ECG configuration of the IntelliVue Multi-Measurement Module for facilities using Masimo LNCS sensors. The C12 option adds conventional 12-lead ECG capture and EASI-derived 12-lead ECG to the A03 standard parameter set — ECG, arrhythmia, ST, respiration, Masimo SET SpO2, and oscillometric NBP — without adding invasive pressure or temperature. The A03C12 is the direct Masimo SET equivalent of the A01C12 and A02C12: clinically identical in 12-lead ECG capability and overall parameter set, with the SpO2 interface built around the Masimo SET circuit and Masimo LNCS sensors connecting via the LNC MP-10 dual-key patient cable (Masimo part 2281). For facilities standardized on Masimo LNCS sensors that require documented, diagnostic-quality 12-lead ECG alongside continuous monitoring but do not need hemodynamic line monitoring within the MMS module, the A03C12 is the precise configuration. As with all M3001A variants, patient demographics, up to eight hours of trend data at one-minute resolution, and active measurement settings are stored in the module and travel with the patient between compatible IntelliVue host monitors.

12-Lead ECG — Conventional Capture and EASI

The C12 option provides two distinct paths to 12-lead ECG data within the same module. Conventional 12-lead ECG uses a 10-electrode lead set connected to a compatible 10-lead trunk cable, delivering diagnostic signal quality as defined in the ANSI/AAMI EC11-1991 standard when used with a compatible IntelliVue host monitor — the quality required for formal clinical ECG interpretation and documentation. Any number of electrodes between 3 and 10 can be used for ongoing ECG monitoring using conventional lead placements, allowing clinical teams to apply fewer electrodes for routine rhythm monitoring and the full 10-electrode set when a documented 12-lead capture is required. When connected to the IntelliVue Information Center iX, 12-lead ECG captures can be transmitted to and stored in a compatible ECG management system, and previously acquired ECGs can be retrieved at the bedside. EASI ECG provides a parallel path to 12-lead data using only 5 electrodes in the EASI configuration, deriving 12-lead waveforms mathematically from the 5-electrode signal. EASI reduces the number of patient connections, minimizes interference with clinical procedures, and improves patient comfort during extended monitoring — especially valuable in transport, post-operative recovery, and situations where chest access is limited. Up to 12-lead ST segment analysis with configurable alarm thresholds and QT/QTc interval monitoring are also available, extending the cardiac monitoring capability of the A03C12 beyond routine rhythm surveillance.

Masimo SET SpO2 in the C12 Configuration

The A03C12 uses the same Masimo SET SpO2 interface found in the A03 standard module, providing SpO2 saturation, pulse rate, and a real-time plethysmogram waveform using Masimo’s signal extraction technology. Masimo SET is specifically designed to maintain measurement accuracy under conditions of patient motion and low perfusion — characteristics particularly valuable in cardiac monitoring environments where arrhythmia and hemodynamic instability can cause artifact-prone conditions. Masimo LNCS sensors connect to the module’s SpO2 port via the Masimo LNC MP-10 dual-key patient cable (part 2281), confirmed in Philips product documentation as the appropriate connection method for IntelliVue Masimo SET modules and Multi-Measurement Servers. The dual-key design prevents incorrect cable orientation during rapid patient connections. The addition of 12-lead ECG capability through the C12 option does not affect the Masimo SET interface, the LNC MP-10 cable requirement, or sensor compatibility in any way. Facilities already running Masimo LNCS sensors on A03 standard modules will find the A03C12 uses identical sensors and the same LNC MP-10 cable, with 12-lead ECG as an additional capability.

A03C12 vs. A03C06 and A03C18 — Choosing the Right Configuration

The three C-option suffixes in the M3001A A03 family represent distinct additions to the A03 standard package. The C06 adds an invasive pressure/temperature channel only, with no 12-lead ECG. The C12 adds 12-lead ECG only, with no invasive pressure or temperature. The C18 combines both. For facilities evaluating which configuration suits a given care area, the decision is straightforward: if 12-lead ECG documentation is the requirement and hemodynamic monitoring is handled by a separate system, the A03C12 is the appropriate and most focused choice. For ICU and cardiovascular environments that need both 12-lead ECG and arterial line or temperature monitoring in a single Masimo SET MMS module, the A03C18 is the correct selection. If invasive pressure or temperature capability needs to be added to an existing A03C12 fleet without replacing modules, the M3012A or M3015A MMS extension can provide that channel.

NBP Measurement and Trend Storage

Non-invasive blood pressure measurement uses the oscillometric method with adult, pediatric, and neonatal modes available through the host IntelliVue monitor’s interface. Manual, automatic, and stat NBP modes are supported, with each result automatically entered into the module’s trend record alongside SpO2, ECG, and respiration values. The module stores up to eight hours of numeric trend data at one-minute resolution within itself rather than on the host monitor. When the A03C12 docks to a new IntelliVue host, this complete record uploads automatically without manual re-entry, and the 12-lead ECG capability and all lead configuration settings are immediately available without reconfiguration. The module retains the full patient record for up to six hours while disconnected, supporting clean handoffs between care areas. The NBP pneumatic assembly requires a calibration check once every two years per OEM service documentation.

Adding Pressure and Temperature to A03C12 Fleets

Facilities standardized on the A03C12 that occasionally need invasive pressure or temperature monitoring at specific beds can address that need through MMS extension modules without replacing any A03C12 units. The M3012A Measurement Server Extension attaches directly to the M3001A and provides an invasive pressure channel and a temperature channel, adding C06-equivalent hemodynamic capability to any A03C12 when the extension is connected. The M3015A extension adds sidestream CO2 capnography along with an additional pressure/temperature channel. The M3016A adds mainstream CO2. These extensions inherit power and connectivity from the host monitor through the module, requiring no separate power supplies or additional MSL cables. This approach allows a standardized A03C12 fleet to serve both pure cardiac monitoring beds and occasional hemodynamic monitoring needs through selective extension deployment, without maintaining separate A03C06 or A03C18 inventory.

Host Monitor Connectivity and System Integration

The M3001A A03C12 connects to compatible IntelliVue host monitors in either the direct-dock configuration or the remote configuration via MSL cable. Once connected, all monitoring, alarm, and configuration functions are managed through the host monitor’s interface. The A03C12 is compatible with the full IntelliVue MP-series platform (MP20 through MP90), the MX-series monitors, and the M3046A (M/M4 series) running Release E or higher software. When the host monitor is networked to the IntelliVue Information Center, all measurement data from the A03C12 — including 12-lead ECG captures — flows transparently for central monitoring, trend archiving, ECG storage and retrieval, and clinical reporting alongside all other networked patient data.
