$1,095.00 Original price was: $1,095.00.$995.00Current price is: $995.00.

The Philips IntelliVue M3001A (Option A02) is the Nellcor OxiMax-compatible configuration of the IntelliVue Multi-Measurement Module for the IntelliVue bedside patient monitoring platform. Functionally identical to the standard M3001A in ECG, arrhythmia, ST, respiration, and oscillometric NBP capability, the A02 option is specifically engineered for facilities standardized on Nellcor OxiMax sensors — using a dedicated OxiMax-compatible SpO2 interface rather than the Philips FAST SpO2 circuit found in Option A01. The module plugs directly into the rear of any compatible IntelliVue host monitor — or connects via MSL cable — and transmits all measurement data to the host display without requiring cable changes or parameter re-setup between units. Patient demographics, trend data, and measurement settings are stored within the module itself, so the patient record travels with the MMS when the patient moves between units or monitors.

Overview

The Philips IntelliVue M3001A (Option A02) is the Nellcor OxiMax-compatible configuration of the IntelliVue Multi-Measurement Module, designed for acute care facilities that have standardized on the Nellcor OxiMax sensor platform for pulse oximetry. Developed by Philips Medizin Systeme Böblingen GmbH and cleared by the FDA as a Class II device, the M3001A A02 acquires and transmits ECG with arrhythmia and ST monitoring, impedance respiration, Nellcor OxiMax-compatible SpO2, and oscillometric NBP to any compatible IntelliVue host monitor. The defining difference between the A02 and the A01 option is the SpO2 interface: where the A01 uses Philips FAST SpO2 technology with its own sensor line, the A02 is built around a dedicated OxiMax-compatible circuit that communicates directly with Nellcor OxiMax sensors, providing the alarm and saturation intelligence native to that platform. All other architectural features are shared with the A01 — including the module-resident patient data store, up to eight hours of trend storage at one-minute resolution, and the ability to retain the full patient record for six hours while disconnected from a host. This makes the A02 the correct choice for facilities where Nellcor OxiMax sensors are already deployed across the monitoring fleet and sensor interchangeability between devices is a clinical or operational priority.

Option A02 — The Nellcor OxiMax Difference

The A02 option is specifically designated as the Nellcor OxiMax-compatible Multi-Measurement Module in Philips’ own SpO2 compatibility documentation. This is not an adapter-based workaround — the A02 module contains a dedicated OxiMax-compatible hardware interface that communicates natively with the Nellcor OxiMax sensor ecosystem. Connection between the module and OxiMax sensors requires the M1943NL adapter cable, which bridges the module’s D-Connect port to the OxiMax connector standard used by Nellcor sensors. Facilities choosing between the A01 and A02 should base the decision on their established sensor inventory: hospitals running Nellcor OxiMax sensors across their monitoring, anesthesia, and procedure equipment will find the A02 allows nursing staff to use a single familiar sensor brand across all IntelliVue bedside monitors. Hospitals running Philips sensors, or those that prefer the FAST SpO2 algorithm, should select the A01. In all other respects — ECG lead configurations, arrhythmia analysis, ST monitoring, NBP method, trend storage architecture, host compatibility, and extension module support — the A02 is identical to the A01.

Clinical Measurements — ECG, Arrhythmia, and ST

ECG monitoring in the M3001A A02 supports 3-lead and 5-lead configurations using the connected ECG trunk cable and leadset. Arrhythmia analysis is processed by the monitoring system and delivers alarm notification for lethal and non-lethal rhythm events through the host IntelliVue monitor’s alarm infrastructure, with configurable alarm limits and lead selection. ST segment monitoring provides continuous analysis of ST elevation and depression across the monitored leads, with threshold-based alarms and on-screen ST visualization on the host display. Respiration rate is derived from thoracic impedance using the electrodes already in place for ECG, requiring no additional sensors or patient connections. All alarm processing and parameter display for ECG-derived measurements are managed by the host IntelliVue monitor once the M3001A is docked or connected via MSL cable. The module’s ECG acquisition hardware and signal processing are consistent across all M3001A option configurations; the A02 designation affects only the SpO2 interface, not ECG performance or capability.

Nellcor OxiMax SpO2 and NBP Measurement

The Nellcor OxiMax-compatible SpO2 interface in the M3001A A02 provides SpO2 saturation, pulse rate, and a real-time plethysmogram waveform. The OxiMax platform, developed by Nellcor and now maintained by Medtronic, is one of the most widely deployed pulse oximetry standards in acute care, with a broad catalog of adult, pediatric, and neonatal sensors for finger, forehead, ear, and multisite applications. Because the A02 communicates natively with this sensor family via the OxiMax protocol, the module can take advantage of OxiMax sensor identification — the embedded chip in each OxiMax sensor that communicates sensor type, calibration, and usage status to the monitor. Connection from the module to an OxiMax sensor requires the M1943NL adapter cable, which provides the 8-pin D-Connect to OxiMax interface. Non-invasive blood pressure measurement uses the oscillometric method and is configured through the host IntelliVue monitor’s interface, with the same manual, automatic, and sequence modes available in all M3001A configurations. NBP results feed directly into the module’s vital signs trend record. The NBP pneumatic assembly requires a performance calibration check once every two years per the OEM service documentation.

Patient Data Portability and Trend Storage

Like all M3001A configurations, the A02 stores its patient record internally rather than on the host monitor. Up to eight hours of numeric trend data at one-minute resolution across all monitored parameters, patient demographic information, active measurement settings, and NBP calibration data are all resident within the module itself. When the M3001A A02 is connected to a new IntelliVue host monitor, this stored data uploads automatically, giving the receiving monitor a complete longitudinal view of the patient’s vital signs without any manual intervention. The module retains the full patient record — including demographics, trends, and active parameter settings — for up to six hours while disconnected from any host. This architecture is particularly valuable in high-velocity care environments such as post-anesthesia care units, emergency departments, and step-down units, where patients routinely pass through multiple monitoring points during a single admission. The A02’s OxiMax SpO2 data is stored and transferred as part of this record alongside ECG, arrhythmia events, respiration, and NBP values.

MMS Extensions and Configuration Upgrades

The M3001A A02 standard package covers ECG, respiration, OxiMax SpO2, and NBP. Facilities requiring invasive pressure and temperature measurement can source the A02C06 configuration, which adds one invasive pressure channel and one temperature channel to the A02 standard parameters. The A02C12 configuration adds conventional 12-lead ECG capability using a 10-electrode lead set. The A02C18 configuration provides the full complement — 12-lead ECG, invasive pressure, and temperature — alongside the standard A02 parameters. In addition to factory option codes, MMS extensions can be physically attached to the M3001A A02 to expand measurement capability. The M3015A Measurement Server Extension adds sidestream CO2 capnography; the M3016A adds mainstream CO2; and the M3012A provides an additional invasive pressure channel, temperature, and CO2 in a single extension. These extensions attach directly to the M3001A and inherit their power and network connectivity from the host monitor through the module, requiring no additional power supply or dedicated MSL cable for the extension.

Host Monitor Connectivity and System Integration

The M3001A A02 connects to compatible IntelliVue host monitors using the same two physical configurations shared across all M3001A variants. In the direct-attach configuration, the module docks to the rear of the host monitor without any cables for immediate bedside use. In the remote configuration, the module connects via MSL cable and can be positioned in the patient vicinity while the host display remains at a distance. Once connected, all monitoring and alarm functions are managed through the host monitor’s interface — the M3001A itself has no independent display or controls. The A02 is compatible with the full IntelliVue MP-series platform (MP20 through MP90), the MX-series monitors, and the M3046A (M/M4 series) running Release E or higher. When the host monitor is connected to the IntelliVue clinical network, all measurement data from the M3001A A02 — including OxiMax SpO2 waveforms and numerics — flows transparently to the IntelliVue Information Center for central monitoring, trend archiving, and clinical reporting alongside all other networked patient data.
