Design and Construction

The non-woven adhesive wrap conforms to the fingertip and holds the emitter and detector in alignment through patient movement, which makes it well suited for continuous monitoring in the ICU, OR, ED, and during transport. The sensor is sized for adult patients weighing more than 66 lbs (30 kg). The 3.0 ft (0.9 m) cable terminates in a triple-keyed male 9-pin LNCS connector. Each sensor is single-patient use, latex-free, and non-sterile, and sensors are packaged 20 per box.

Adhesive sensors are designed for a single patient and should be discarded when that patient is discharged or the sensor is removed. Persistent “sensor off” or low-signal alarms on a well-perfused patient are also a cue to apply a fresh sensor at a new site.
