What Is the 21078A Compatible Adult Skin Surface Temperature Probe?

The IPR Medical TS-PH-AS30 is a compatible aftermarket (not OEM) adult skin surface temperature probe that replaces OEM part 21078A. It has a 0.35 in (9.0 mm) probe disc and comes on a 9.8 ft (3.0 m) cable. The probe is reusable, so it can return to service after cleaning.

Compatible Monitor Models

Before an order goes in, look for your monitor’s model among the compatibility entries on the Specifications tab. Most entries there belong to the OEM of part 21078A; the two other brands are represented by the Welch Allyn Propaq CS and the Contec Patient Simulator MS400.

Design and Construction

Instead of a tip, the TS-PH-AS30 uses a 0.35 in (9.0 mm) probe disc for skin surface measurement. Adult patient sizing, Dual-Pin 400 Series temperature technology, and a 9.8 ft (3.0 m) cable complete the specification. Each reusable probe is packed one per bag; clean and disinfect it between patients following facility protocol.

When to Replace Your Skin Surface Temperature Probe

Replace the skin probe if the disc is cracked or pulling away from the cable, if the jacket is cut or kinked, or if there are bent pins at the connector. Temperature values that jump, read far from what you expect, or vanish when the cable is moved are further signs of wear. Testing a known-good skin probe on the same monitor helps confirm that the original probe is at fault.
