What Is the GE 9461-217 Compatible Dual-Tube NIBP Hose?

The GE Healthcare 9461-217 compatible NIBP air hose is an aftermarket dual-tube hose that connects an adult or pediatric two-tube blood pressure cuff with screw-type fittings to the NIBP port on GE, Marquette, Dinamap, Corometrics, and Datex-Ohmeda equipment. GE’s DINAMAP-based NIBP measurement uses one lumen for cuff inflation and deflation and a second for pressure sensing. Both lines have to stay sealed for the monitor to report accurate systolic, diastolic, and mean pressures in mmHg. It is a compatible replacement, not an original GE part, and it is built to the same fit, form, and function as the OEM 9461-217 hose.

Design and Construction

Dual-tube hoses are coiled, stretched, and rolled over by beds and carts, and a leak in either lumen interferes with the measurement. Replace the hose when the monitor shows “cuff leak” or measurement-failed messages with a known-good cuff, when inflation cycles take longer or repeat, or when results disagree with a manual check. Also replace it if the tubing is cracked, hardened, or kinked near either end, if the screw fittings no longer seal tightly on the cuff, or if the black block wobbles in the monitor port.
