What Is the YSI 402 Compatible Pediatric General Temperature Probe?

The IPR Medical TS-Y400-PG30 is a compatible aftermarket (not OEM) pediatric general (oral/rectal) temperature probe that replaces the YSI 402. Intended for pediatric patients, it combines 400 Series temperature technology with a 0.13 in (3.2 mm) probe tip on 9.8 ft (3.0 m) of cable. The probe is reusable rather than single-use.

Compatible Monitor Models

The compatibility list for this pediatric probe is long and covers many manufacturers. Select Mindray / Datascope models on it include the Passport 2, Spectrum OR, and PM 8000, while select Draeger models include the Infinity Delta and Narkomed 6400. Select Datex-Ohmeda models such as the Cardiocap/5 and S/5 are listed as well, and Nihon Kohden and the other brands appear in the Compatible Monitor Models table on the Specifications tab, so verify your model there before you order.

Design and Construction

A 0.13 in (3.2 mm) tip sized for pediatric general (oral/rectal) measurement sits at the end of a 9.8 ft (3.0 m) cable, and the probe uses 400 Series temperature technology. One probe comes in each bag. Between pediatric patients, clean and disinfect it as your facility protocol directs, and check the tip and the full length of the cable for damage.

When to Replace Your YSI 402 Compatible Pediatric Probe

A pediatric probe is due for replacement when temperatures read erratically, take too long to settle, or fail to match a reference reading. Other warning signs include a bent or separating tip, a cable jacket that is cut or kinked, and a monitor that reports a probe fault while the probe is connected. Swapping in a probe you know works, on the same monitor, will confirm whether this one is the problem.
