What Is the YSI 409B Compatible Straight-Connector Skin Surface Probe?

The IPR Medical TS-Y400S-AS30 is a compatible aftermarket (not OEM) adult skin surface temperature probe that replaces the YSI 409B. It has a straight connector, a 0.35 in (9.0 mm) probe disc, and a 9.8 ft (3.0 m) cable, and it uses 400 Series temperature technology. The probe can be cleaned and reused.

Compatible Monitor Models

Listed equipment for this straight-connector skin probe consists of the GE Healthcare B40 and seven Edan models: the Elite V5, iM3, iM8, iM50, iM60, iM70, and iM80. If your monitor is not among those eight, this probe is not listed for it; the Specifications tab shows the same entries in table form.

Design and Construction

The TS-Y400S-AS30 pairs a 0.35 in (9.0 mm) probe disc for adult skin surface measurement with a straight connector and a 9.8 ft (3.0 m) cable. It uses 400 Series temperature technology and comes one per bag. Follow facility protocol for cleaning between patients, and inspect the disc, cable, and connector before every use.

When to Replace Your Straight-Connector Skin Surface Probe

Replace this probe if skin temperature readings become unstable, lag well behind expected values, or disappear when the cable is flexed. Cracks in the disc, separation where the disc meets the cable, and damage at the straight connector are physical signs of wear. A comparison against a known-good probe on the same monitor confirms the fault.
