ABC 4100 Syringe Infusion Pump
The Atlanta Biomedical Corporation (ABC) 4100 is a compact, metal-housed syringe infusion pump purpose-built for anesthesia and OR environments. Unlike plastic-body competitors, the ABC 4100 uses an all-metal housing for superior durability, improved EMI immunity, and easier cleaning — making it well suited for the demanding conditions of an operating room.
The OR-Infusor version of the 4100 supports body-weight dosing (mcg/kg/min, mg/kg/hr), mass and unit modes, continuous ml/hr, volume-over-time, auto volume-over-time, and bolus — all with automatic syringe size recognition across BD, Monoject, Terumo, BD Glass, and ABC 140 ml syringes. Ninety customizable drug settings allow drug names and programmed parameters to be saved and retrieved. Flow rates scale automatically to the loaded syringe size, from 0.01 ml/h with a 1 ml syringe up to 1,500 ml/h with a 50/60 ml syringe. The pump operates on AC or an externally removable rechargeable battery pack providing approximately 12 hours of runtime at 5 ml/h.

Built for the OR — metal housing, body-weight dosing, 90 drug settings
The ABC 4100 OR-Infusor is a syringe infusion pump designed from the ground up for anesthesia and operating room environments. Where most syringe pumps use plastic enclosures, the 4100 is built with all-metal housing — reducing breakage risk, improving EMI immunity per IEC 60601-1-2, and making the unit significantly easier to clean and disinfect between cases. The pump is splash-proof (IPX1), compact at under 5 lbs, and ships with an integrated carrying handle for easy transport between OR suites. An optional rotating pole clamp allows mounting to any standard IV pole or rail system and rotation to vertical orientation without affecting delivery accuracy.
Full dosing mode set for anesthesia and critical care
The 4100 covers every mode an anesthesia or OR team requires. Body-weight modes (mcg/kg/min, mcg/kg/hr, mg/kg/min, mg/kg/hr) allow weight-based dosing without manual rate calculations. Mass and unit modes (mcg/hr, mg/min, U/hr, mU/min, and more) handle drug delivery outside body-weight protocols. Continuous ml/hr and volume-over-time modes cover standard infusion scenarios. Bolus is available across all modes. Rate adjustments can be made without interrupting flow — critical in an active surgical case. The pump tracks total delivered volume, mass, and units up to 99,999 in each category.
Automatic syringe recognition across all major brands
The 4100 automatically detects the loaded syringe size and brand, scaling the available flow rate range accordingly. It is compatible with Becton Dickinson (1–60 ml), Monoject (1–140 ml), Terumo (1–60 ml), BD Glass (1–10 ml), and ABC’s own 140 ml syringe. The minimum flow rate is 0.01 ml/h with a 1 ml syringe, and the maximum reaches 1,500 ml/h with a 50/60 ml BD or Monoject syringe — or up to 3,055 ml/h with the 140 ml configuration. Rate changes can be made without stopping the infusion.
90 customizable drug settings for institution-specific workflows
The 4100 stores up to 90 customizable drug settings — drug names paired with programmed delivery parameters — that can be saved and retrieved from the pump’s memory. This allows facilities to pre-configure commonly used anesthesia and OR drug protocols directly in the pump, reducing programming time and the risk of entry errors during fast-moving cases. Settings can be transferred between pumps via the communications port, making fleet-wide updates straightforward for biomedical staff.
Externally removable battery — 12-hour runtime
The 4100 runs on AC power or an internally housed, externally removable rechargeable battery pack. After an 8-hour charge, the battery provides approximately 12 hours of operation at 5 ml/h with a 60 ml syringe at room temperature — enough for a full surgical day without hunting for wall outlets. No external power adapter is required for AC operation. The battery pack is accessible from outside the pump for easy hot-swap replacement.
