B Braun Vista Basic

$1,295.00

The B. Braun Vista Basic is a linear peristaltic volumetric infusion pump built around a single principle: simplicity without compromise. Designed for ease of use across acute care, outpatient, and home infusion settings, the Vista Basic delivers accurate, continuous and programmable infusions of parenteral and enteral fluids across a rate range of 0.1 to 800.0 ml/h with Vista tubing — or up to 999.9 ml/h with Intrafix sets — in 0.1 ml/h increments. Flow accuracy is rated at ±5%.

The aluminum housing is drip-proof, resistant to disinfectants, and built for the day-to-day demands of clinical use. Straight-line tubing loads quickly without the need to thread complex pathways, and the plain-language LCD display walks operators through programming step by step. The 7.2V NiCd rechargeable battery provides approximately 3.5 hours of runtime at maximum delivery rate. A drop sensor detects upstream occlusions and empty containers, and a data lock feature prevents unauthorized reprogramming during active infusions.

With over 100,000 units in service worldwide, the Vista Basic has earned its reputation as a dependable workhorse — equally at home on a hospital floor, in an infusion clinic, or in a home care setting. IPR Medical buys, sells, and repairs the B. Braun Vista Basic and stocks replacement parts. Contact us at 855-477-8866 or cs@iprmed.com.

Looking for a more modern alternative? The B. Braun Infusomat Space Version U is B. Braun’s current-generation large volume pump platform, featuring an integrated drug library, modular Space system stacking, wireless drug library upload, and upstream and downstream pressure sensing — a natural upgrade path for facilities already familiar with B. Braun infusion equipment.

Overview

The B. Braun Vista Basic is a linear peristaltic volumetric infusion pump designed for reliable, straightforward delivery of parenteral and enteral fluids across a wide range of clinical settings — from hospital floors and infusion clinics to outpatient and home care environments. With over 100,000 units placed worldwide, the Vista Basic has established itself as one of the most proven large-volume pumps in the market. Its defining strength is an uncompromising focus on ease of use: straight-line tubing that loads quickly, a plain-language LCD display that walks users through programming step by step, and a robust aluminum housing that stands up to the everyday demands of clinical use. The pump is certified to IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-2-24, and EN 60601 standards and carries UL, CSA/NRTL, and CE marks.

Infusion Modes and Programming

The Vista Basic supports a comprehensive suite of infusion modes to cover the full range of clinical therapy requirements. Continuous Mode handles standard IV infusions with rate, volume, and time entry in any combination, and the pump calculates the missing variable automatically. Piggyback Mode programs a secondary infusion that transitions automatically back to the primary continuous program when complete. Program Mode allows up to nine sequential rate-and-volume steps in a single program — designed for stepped oncology drugs, circadian medication delivery, and other variable-rate therapies. Ramp/Taper Mode automates the gradual rate ramp-up and taper-down required for TPN infusions, with automatic rate calculation from user-entered volume and timing parameters. Delay A Mode can postpone the start of any mode and extend the end-of-infusion alarm. Bolus Mode allows a programmable bolus delivery at a defined rate during a continuous infusion, while Interval Bolus (Intermittent) Mode automates repeated timed dose delivery over a basal KVO rate. A built-in Dosage Calculation feature computes the required rate from concentration and dose parameters, including weight-based dosing.

Safety and Alarm System

The Vista Basic incorporates both pump-based and set-based free-flow protection, ensuring fluid cannot gravity-flow to the patient if the pump door is open or the set is removed. The air-in-line detector triggers an alarm at a bubble size of 0.3 mL or an accumulated air flow rate of 1.5 ml/h — both adjustable in the service program. Downstream occlusion pressure is user-selectable between Low (approximately 8 PSI) and High (approximately 17 PSI), allowing clinical staff to match sensitivity to the therapy and access site. The alarm set covers air-in-line, low battery, plug-in-now, bag empty, downstream occlusion, door open, pump stopped, KVO, and unit malfunction — all displayed in plain language on the LCD and accompanied by an audible alarm that can be silenced for two minutes. A Data Lock option prevents unauthorized keypad changes during an active infusion without stopping delivery. An optional drop sensor placed on the drip chamber detects upstream occlusions and empty containers without requiring VTBI pre-entry in Continuous Mode.

Construction and Portability

The Vista Basic’s aluminum housing is drip-proof and resistant to the disinfectants used in routine clinical cleaning. The power transformer is housed internally, so only a standard hospital-grade power cord is required — no external power brick. The pump pole-mounts using the included pole clamp, with a built-in bag hook that eliminates the need for a separate hook on the IV pole, and it can also be used as a standalone tabletop unit. The 7.2V, 1.2 Ah NiCd rechargeable battery provides approximately 3.5 hours of runtime at maximum delivery rate following an approximately 16-hour charge, and the battery is rated for roughly three years of service before requiring replacement — reducing ongoing maintenance cost over the pump’s service life.

IV Sets and Consumables

The Vista Basic is validated for use with B. Braun Vista administration sets, which use a straight-line gravity tubing design that loads faster than serpentine alternatives and reduces per-infusion setup time. B. Braun’s Vista pump sets are available in DEHP-free formulations to protect patients from plasticizer exposure, and needle-free versions are available to protect clinical staff from needlestick risk. IPR Medical stocks Vista-compatible IV administration sets, making us a single-source vendor for both the pump and the consumables that run on it.

Considering a More Modern Platform?

For facilities looking to upgrade from the Vista Basic to a current-generation B. Braun large-volume platform, the B. Braun Infusomat Space Version U represents the natural next step within the B. Braun family. The Infusomat Space features an integrated drug library, upstream and downstream pressure sensing, modular Space system stacking (up to three pumps on a single pole clamp), wireless drug library upload capability, and arrow-key menu navigation with a backlit LCD — while continuing B. Braun’s proven peristaltic delivery technology. IPR Medical stocks, sells, and repairs the Infusomat Space as well.
