What Is the YSI 409B Compatible Adult Skin Surface Temperature Probe?

The IPR Medical TS-Y400-AS30 is a compatible aftermarket (not OEM) adult skin surface temperature probe that replaces the YSI 409B. In place of a tip it has a 0.35 in (9.0 mm) probe disc, and it uses 400 Series temperature technology on a 9.8 ft (3.0 m) cable. It is a reusable probe.

Compatible Monitor Models

Nihon Kohden entries make up the longest part of this probe’s compatibility list, including select Nihon Kohden BSM models such as the BSM-3562, BSM-5105, and BSM-9510 Life Scope M. Select Zoll models such as the X Series and Thermogard Xp and select Welch Allyn models such as the Atlas are listed too, as is the Spacelabs 93300 eLance Series. Design and Construction

The 0.35 in (9.0 mm) disc is designed for skin surface measurement on adult patients. The cable runs 9.8 ft (3.0 m), and the probe uses 400 Series temperature technology. It is supplied one per bag; clean it between patients following facility protocol, with attention to the disc and the length of the cable.

When to Replace Your Adult Skin Surface Temperature Probe

Swap out the skin probe once the disc shows cracks or begins to separate from the cable, or when the cable is cut, kinked, or frayed. Skin temperature values that drift, or that drop out when the cable is moved, also point to a worn probe. Trying a skin probe you know is good on the same monitor will confirm the diagnosis.
