Design and Construction

The SY0003 set measures 91 inches (approximately 7.6 feet) in total length, providing generous reach for a wide range of veterinary pump-to-patient configurations. The set opens with a vented spike incorporating a 5 micron hydrophobic air inlet filter, which prevents airborne contaminants from entering the fluid path while allowing necessary venting of the IV bag. A standard drip chamber follows, enabling visual confirmation of flow rate during infusion. An integrated 15 micron inline fluid filter further protects the patient from particulate matter present in the solution.

Flow is regulated by a roller clamp, and a Y-injection site allows secondary medication administration without interrupting the primary infusion line. The distal end features a rotating male Luer lock with protective cap, providing secure, leak-resistant connection to the patient’s catheter. The main tubing is constructed from DEHP-free PVC with fluid path components comprising ABS, PA, PC, and isoprene rubber. Non-fluid path components are PE, ABS, and PP. The set is lipid and alcohol resistant, non-pyrogenic, and latex-free. Each unit is individually sealed and sterilized by Ethylene Oxide (ETO) with a shelf life of 5 years from the date of manufacture. Packaged 200 units per box.

When to Replace the SY0003 Administration Set

The SY0003 is rated for single patient use and must not be re-sterilized or reused. Sets should be replaced at a minimum of every 24 hours during continuous infusion therapy and must be replaced immediately if the line becomes kinked, discolored, contaminated, or mechanically compromised. Adherence to proper set change intervals is essential to minimize infection risk and maintain the integrity of the fluid delivery system throughout treatment.
