Heska Vet/IV 2.2

$995.00

The Heska® Vet/IV™ 2.2 Infusion Pump is a compact, lightweight veterinary IV pump trusted in clinics for accurate delivery of electrolyte and glucose fluids to small and large animal patients alike. Weighing just 2.6 lbs, it fits in the palm of your hand and mounts directly to a cage clip or IV pole — no extra hardware needed. Six infusion programs (MACRO, MICRO, 10-P multi-program, TPN, TPN EASY, and PIGY piggyback) cover everything from routine fluid replacement to total parenteral nutrition, and the pump runs on AC power or its internal NiCad battery for up to 6–7 hours of uninterrupted infusion during patient transport or power interruptions. Flow rates span 0.1 to 999 ml/h across MICRO and MACRO modes, with ±5% delivery accuracy and three selectable occlusion pressure levels (Low / Normal / High) to match patient fragility. The keypad lockout feature prevents accidental setting changes mid-infusion — a practical safeguard in busy treatment areas.

IPR Medical recalibrates the Heska Vet/IV 2.2 to multiple IV set brands so your facility can switch seamlessly if a preferred brand is backordered. IPR Medical buys, sells, repairs, and stocks parts and administration sets for the Heska Vet/IV 2.2. Contact us at 855-477-8866 or cs@iprmed.com.

Overview

The Heska® Vet/IV™ 2.2 is a linear peristaltic infusion pump designed exclusively for veterinary fluid therapy. It delivers intravenous electrolyte and glucose fluids with ±5% accuracy across a wide flow range — from 0.1 ml/h in MICRO mode for small or fragile patients, up to 999 ml/h in MACRO mode for large-animal or high-volume fluid replacement. The pump is factory calibrated for either Hospira or Baxter IV set systems, and IPR Medical can recalibrate units to your facility’s preferred brand, giving you continuity of care even when supply chain disruptions affect your primary IV set source.

Infusion Programs

The Vet/IV 2.2 offers six distinct infusion programs to cover the full spectrum of veterinary fluid therapy needs. MACRO mode handles standard fluid replacement at rates from 1 to 999 ml/h using standard IV sets, while MICRO mode targets smaller animals or low-dose infusions at 0.1 to 99.9 ml/h using micro IV sets. The 10-P multi-program feature allows clinicians to pre-program up to ten sequential rate and volume combinations for a single patient — useful for phased fluid protocols that change rate or volume over time. TPN mode supports total parenteral nutrition delivery with programmable ramp-up and ramp-down times to prevent bolus delivery at the start and end of infusion; TPN EASY simplifies this by applying automatic one-hour ramp-up and one-hour ramp-down intervals while the user only sets total volume and time. The PIGY program manages piggyback administration from two sequential IV bags at independently programmed rates and volumes.

Pressure Settings and Safety Alarms

Three selectable occlusion pressure levels — Low (6 psi), Normal (8 psi), and High (12 psi) — let clinicians match pump sensitivity to patient condition. The High setting is recommended for most patients and minimizes nuisance alarming; Low is intended for geriatric, neonatal, or fragile-vein patients. The pump’s alarm suite covers air-in-line detection via an ultrasonic sensor, door-open detection, downstream occlusion / high pressure, KVO completion, low battery (approximately 15 minutes remaining), and battery exhaustion. Alarm volume is user-adjustable from level 1 to 7. An anti-bolus system prevents a fluid surge to the patient when a downstream occlusion is cleared.

Portability and Mounting

At 2.6 lbs and 5.4″ × 5.4″ × 2.8″, the Vet/IV 2.2 is genuinely pocket-sized for a peristaltic pump. Its integrated rear IV pole clamp secures the unit to a standard pole without tools, and the included snap hook and swivel bolt cage clip assembly allows direct mounting to a treatment cage door — a practical feature in busy treatment areas where pole space is limited. The NiCad battery provides approximately 6–7 hours of runtime at 120 ml/h, allowing the pump to travel with the patient during procedures, imaging, or transfers without interrupting infusion. Battery charges automatically whenever the pump is connected to AC power; full charge takes 8–10 hours and should not exceed 12 hours.

IV Sets, Administration Sets, and Calibration

The Vet/IV 2.2 is factory calibrated for one of two IV set families: the Hospira-compatible group (Hospira, ICU Medical, Zoetis Series A, Covetrus Series A) or the Baxter-compatible group (Baxter, Zoetis Series B, Covetrus Series B). Using an IV set outside the pump’s calibrated family will affect delivery accuracy and may compromise air alarm reliability — the pump label identifies which calibration is installed. IPR Medical stocks compatible administration sets for the Vet/IV 2.2 and can recalibrate pumps when a facility needs to switch to a different IV set brand. This means that if your preferred set brand is backordered or discontinued, IPR Medical can recalibrate your existing fleet rather than requiring a new pump purchase, protecting both your budget and your workflow continuity.

Battery Maintenance

Heska recommends bimonthly battery maintenance for pumps that are infrequently used or that remain on AC power during most infusions. The procedure involves running the pump on battery at 120 ml/h until the low-battery warning appears, then fully recharging for 8–10 hours. This cycle helps preserve battery capacity over time. If a battery has been fully discharged or left idle for an extended period, a battery conditioning procedure (up to three full discharge/recharge cycles) may restore performance. IPR Medical services and replaces NiCad batteries during repair visits so clinics don’t have to manage battery replacement in-house.
